What is Crawlability?
‘Crawlability’ is the ability of search engines to crawl through the entire text content of your website, being able to navigate to all of the pages, without unexpectedly stalling. This ensures all the pages are indexed and listed, each contributing towards optimization.
It is particularly important in larger websites where problems are more prone to arise. Often inefficiencies in development introduce barriers that prevent pages from being scanned and indexed by search engines.
Why is Crawlability so Important?
Crawlability problems significantly retard optimization. Each page listed in Google is an opportunity to rank for another keyword. If search engines fail to list a page it can’t offer any value towards generating conversions. Where a page could be used to promote a high value keyword this is a significant lost opportunity.
Crawlability issues are typically caused by technical problems with the site. These include poor site architecture, inefficient navigation and excessive file size. A full crawlability audit considering these technical factors allows us to determine issues and offer solutions.
